Auburn Girls High School is a centre of excellence in girls’ education. We are committed to empowering young women to discover their potential. We recognise and celebrate individuality and diversity. Our core values of respect and responsibility are at the heart of all we do. As a learning community we actively collaborate and reflect to engage and transform the lives of our students as learners and responsible global citizens.
Being a leader at AGHS is more than just a badge on your label, it is about developing your ability to communicate clearly, cultivate your resilience, forming compassion and empathy for others and working together as a cohesive team with integrity, diligence and determination not to accept failure.
Each new leadership team will be composed of a myriad of personalities, however we know they will emulate the previous teams energetic and motivation to represent the opinions of their fellow students, advocate for equity and equality and create opportunities for all students to enjoy an inviting environment both inside and outside the class room.
The purpose of the Student Leadership system is to develop high quality student leaders across the whole school. It is about a passion to represent others and voice opinions. It is about making changes for the good of the whole, not just at school but in the wider community.
The Student Leadership Team is composed of the School Captain, School Vice Captain, Sports Captain, Sports Vice Captain, Prefects and four House Captains for Batten, Cavell, Curie and Melba. These students are all from Year 12. However, there are four Junior Prefect Positions and four House Vice Captain Positions available to Year 11 students. By distributing the leadership roles and responsibilities among the Year 11 and 12 students it prevents stress, anxiety and distractions from their studies for all concerned.
For more details regarding the roles and responsibilities for each of the positions, students are encouraged to see the Student Leadership Co-ordinator for a copy of the AGHS Student Leadership Handbook.
Each new Student Leadership Team is elected and inducted in Term 3 to commence their representative roles until Term 3 the following year.
